History of MarsHigh.com
The idea for this site started as a 1-page, manually updated site run by Mac Purvis, Jr. (Class of 1973, Purvis Brothers, Inc.). The domain name MarsHigh.com previously housed a bulletin board system used by a few Mars alum, but it was not widely known to exist.
There were a good amount of Mars graduates at sites like ClassMates.com, but to really take full advantage of the site (reading bios, posting pictures, etc) you have to pay money. After seeing that I thought, Wouldn't it be nice to have a free place for just Mars people to do this? After some brainstorming with Mac Purvis and a few others, I took over the domain in March of 2004... and of course, the rest is history!
MarsHigh.com will ALWAYS be free. There may be some ads on the sidebar to offset maintenance costs, but there will never be a charge to reconnect with your high school friends. And, it's just for Mars graduates, so the site will never get over-crowded with strangers.
I am always looking for ways to improve the site and add new features. After the recent rebuilding, things are in a much better position for future development- so any ideas you have, send them my way! I may have already thought of them and have them on my to-do ist, but you never know what great ideas you might spark!
I want to thank everyone for being so supportive about the site and for making use of it. I do this as a hobby first and as a job second, so seeing people enjoy it makes it all worthwhile :)
